The 5th Engage HEI conference:
'Engaged Scholarship: impact, policy
and practice'

University of Central Lancashire,
Westleigh Conference Centre, PR4 0RB
19th & 20th May 2016

The Engage HEI conferences provide a much needed opportunity for academics and practitioners interested in understanding knowledge exchange between higher education institutions (HEIs), government and industry to share their experiences and inform practice.

The next Engage HEI conference will be hosted by the University of Central Lancashire on the 19th and 20th May 2016.

Engaged Scholarship: impact, policy and practice

The focus of the next Engage HEI will be on the interface between universities and businesses and what this means in terms of engaged scholarship. Higher education institutions (HEIs) have long engaged with businesses, large and small, NGOs and community groups. Given the growing debate around the role of universities, the impact of their research and the impact and engagement on and with their communities, it is timely to explore and debate the role of HEIs and engaged scholarship.

Background

Building on the successful Engage HEI conferences in 2007 (Lancaster), in 2009 (Birmingham City), 2010 (Bradford) and 2012 (London), the purpose of this conference is to explore how we, as academics and practitioners, understand the impact of HEIs, frame our work theoretically and practically and incorporate learning in order to improve engagement.
